Our Mission

Lower Umpqua Hospital District is a rural, not-for-profit health care system dedicated to meeting the changing needs of the community through personalized, cost-effective quality services and education. The Partners in Care Philosophy

As a Partners in Care medical facility, Lower Umpqua Hospital believes the principles of human caring, combined with scientific medicine, enhance the healing process within the hospital. We manifest those principles through, among others:

  • Assisting patients to maximize their level of independence by promoting informed decision-making


Patient Rights

As a patient at Lower Umpqua Hospital, you will be treated with dignity. We believe you have the right to:

  • Considerate and respectful care. You should expect consideration of your medical, social, spiritual and emotional well-being. Your race, religion, cultural values, sex, disability, age, sexual preference or ability to pay will not affect your care.
  • Information about your condition and treatment. You should expect your healthcare team to provide you a clear, concise and understandable description of your condition, treatment choices and the benefits and risks of each choice. Your nurse will be happy to examine your chart with you.
  • Participation in decisions about your care. You have the right to make decisions regarding your medical care, up to and including Advance Directives (i.e., Living Will). You also have the right to refuse a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure to treatment. If you elect to refuse the treatment, you will be informed of the medical consequences of your decision.
  • Privacy and confidentiality. Case discussions, examinations, consultations and treatment are confidential and will be conducted as such, The confidentiality of your medical record will be safeguarded.
  • Non-discriminatory. Lower Umpqua Hospital and its associates maintain a broad non-discrimination policy with regard to the services and care we provide.
