Richard Jany M.D.
Education and Training
Dr. Richard Jany is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in addition to being an M.D. His practice interests include general orthopedics and sports medicine, with a specific focus on total knee replacement; knee arthroscopy and repair; fracture repair; hand problems; shoulder bursitis and shoulder surgery.
Dr. Jany received his medical degree from St. Louis University in 1982 and completed his general surgical internship at the United States Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA in 1983. Following the internship, he served one year aboard the USS Roanoke as the Medical Officer.
Returning to the Naval Hospital in Oakland in 1984, he trained in Orthopedics, completing his four-year residency. From 1988 to 1990, Dr. Jany served as Attending Physician at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. From there the Jany family headed back to the West Coast to live and work in Coos Bay, and to later begin a medical practice in Reedsport.
