Provide Speech/Language Therapy services per state standards and practice act as directed by LUH.  Duties to be performed in Acute Care, nursing home, clinical outpatient settings. 


  1. Adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined by the ASHA. 
  1. Maintain proficiency within the profession by keeping up with continuing education and license. 
  1. Screens patients for Speech Therapy needs. 
  1. Completes initial Speech Therapy evaluation and performs further assessments and testing as needed per plan of care. 
  1. Develops plan of care and performs direct patient care using proper modalities and procedures according to treatment plan. 
  1. Provide regular assessment and revision of the patient’s progress toward goal areas. 
  1. Maintain records that accurately reflect patient care and progress to include: evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries per regulatory standards. 
  1. Advises, consults, and teaches patient and family members as well as caregivers as indicated. 
  1. Maintain contact with physician regarding speech therapy plan of care and progress as needed.  
  1. Attends care conferences and interdisciplinary group meetings as requested. 
  1. Participate in Quality Assurance activities as requested 
  1. Participate in quarterly records review as requested. 
  1. Comply with hospital policies and procedures. 
  1. Answer phones. 
  1. Scheduling patients 
  1. Assist in ordering of linen and supplies. 
  1. Cleaning of treatment rooms. 
  1. Assist other healthcare members – maintaining proper in services for LUH staff. 


Education and License: 

Graduate from an accredited school with degree in Speech/Language Pathology. 

License in good standing as a Speech Therapist in the State of Oregon. 


Must have current certificate of clinical competence in Speech/language pathology (CCC-SLP) or Clinical fellowship year. 

Basic Life Support (BLS)

  1. Good skills in written and oral communications. 
  1. Must be adaptable to changing work environments. 


Works indoors in an air-conditioned gym/office environment. 


Frequent use of computer and phone, and other standard gym and office machines.  Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull using proper body mechanics and move/lift varying amounts of weight to a maximum of 50 lbs.   


This is a Full-Time position that is eligible for benefits.
