Job Summary
Provide Occupational Therapy services per state standards and practice act as directed by LUH. Duties are performed in Outpatient, Acute Care, Swing, and SNF settings.
Note: Looking for Occupational Therapists with lymphedema experience or those willing to obtain certification.
Essential Duties
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined by the AOTA.
- Maintain proficiency within the profession through continuing education and license maintenance.
- Screen patients for Occupational Therapy needs.
- Complete initial Occupational Therapy evaluation and perform further assessments and testing as needed per plan of care.
- Develop plan of care and provide direct patient care using proper modalities and procedures according to treatment plan.
- Provide regular assessment and revision of patient progress toward goal areas per Medicare guidelines.
- Maintain records that accurately reflect patient care and progress, including evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries per regulatory standards.
- Advise, consult, and teach patients, family members, and caregivers as indicated.
- Provide supervision for OTA/COTA’s and rehabilitation aides per state practice act and standards of care.
- Manage insurance paperwork requirements for patients.
- Maintain contact with physicians regarding occupational therapy plan of care and progress as needed.
- Attend care conferences and interdisciplinary group team meetings as requested.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities as requested.
- Participate in quarterly records review as requested.
- Comply with hospital policies and procedures.
- Act as activity program supervisor for hospital swing bed program.
- Answer phones.
- Schedule patients.
- Assist in ordering supplies.
- Clean treatment rooms and equipment as needed.
- Assist other healthcare members and maintain proper in-services for LUH staff.
- Provide clinical supervision of OT and OTA students and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab Services.
Qualification Requirements
Education and License
- Graduate from an accredited school with a degree in Occupational Therapy.
- License in good standing as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Oregon.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS).

Work Environment
Works indoors in an air-conditioned gym and office environment. Work is performed in Outpatient, hospital, and SNF clinical settings.
Physical Demands
Frequent use of computer and phone, and other standard gym and office machines. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull using proper body mechanics and move or lift varying amounts of weight up to a maximum of 60 lbs.
