Job Summary

The Licensed PT Assistant provides direct patient care as determined by a Licensed Physical Therapist, maintains accurate patient care records, and upholds high personal and professional standards.

Essential Duties

  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Provide direct patient care and therapeutic interventions according to treatment plans developed by the Licensed PT.
  • Demonstrate understanding of indications and contraindications for all modalities and procedures.
  • Accurately take measurements and perform tests as requested by the Licensed PT.
  • Record patient progress and report changes to the Licensed PT.
  • Provide physicians with patient progress notes as needed.
  • Participate in in-service training and continuing education programs.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate equipment and necessary supplies.
  • Maintain records that accurately reflect patient care.
  • Comply with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Attend all assigned in-service education programs.
  • Schedule patients appropriately.
  • Understand and assist with billing procedures.
  • Answer patient questions regarding treatments.
  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
  • Assist with pulling charts.
  • Maintain linen supplies.

Qualification Requirements

Education and License

  • Graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant license in the State of Oregon (required).

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to travel.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments.
  • Good patient transfer skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.

Work Environment

Works indoors in an air-conditioned gym and office environment.

Physical Demands

Frequent use of computer and phone, and other standard office machines. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull using proper body mechanics and move or lift varying amounts of weight up to a maximum of 60 lbs.
